The more that I watch the T.V. news and read the worlds blogs the more I am convinced that the nation is going to hell in a hand cart . We read that the British Gestapo visited a Christan cafe and told them that showing Bible verses on a TV screen was offensive and a crime . I challenge Blackpool Police to enter a Muslim establishment and tell them that displaying Koran verses is a crime , since verses from the Koran are offensive to me .
We see that in the midst of the TUC and thet idiot Milliband braying about cuts when it is revealed that borrowing is increasing under Osborne .
The regulators allow gas and electricity suppliers to increase charges until it has become unsustainable and unaffordable .... do they care that people are dying because of their greed ... do they hell .
As I see it we have a choice , one is to have a full scale revolution ; the other is to follow the advice at the top of this post .

Are tobacco companies abusing freedom-of-information laws by asking for the raw data obtained by academics studying teenage smoking?

Well, Maurice, since you’re director of the UK Campaign for Freedom of Information, why don’t you tell us? I mean, you’re surely impartia…

Oh:

Research funded by a cancer charity trying to reduce smoking is being sought by a giant tobacco company keen to recruit users to its lethal products.

OK, maybe not. Clearly, the dispassionate look at the facts we might expect from someone in your position isn’t going to be forthcoming.

Not surprisingly, the requests are highly contentious.

No, I can bet you’re not surprised.

People who really believe that information should be free wouldn’t be, I’d have thought.

But is the threat as severe as it seems?

Is it actually a ‘threat’? Surely you should be asking that?

A problem for Stirling University’s Centre for Tobacco Control Studies is that our FOI laws are designed to be “applicant blind”. Decisions depend on whether information can safely be made public – not whether it should be released to the specific requester, however much it may be abhorred.

So, why is this a ‘problem’ for you? Am I alone in thinking this is a strange attitude to have from someone who supposedly champions freedom of information?

That principle is important. It means that an authority cannot refuse a request because the applicant is opposing its policies, criticising its competence, challenging its decisions in court or, in the case of an opposing political party, trying to replace it in government.

Then, why should that principle not apply equally to this case? Because you’re an anti-smoker?

It also means that it cannot refuse the request because it is made by a tobacco firm. But the university is entitled to take into account that making the information public would also make it available to such firms.

So, you’re only in favour of freedom of information when it suits you?

The researchers have argued that if they are forced to hand over the information (presumably even in anonymised form from which subjects could not be identified), funders will be reluctant to back them, other academics will not share data with them and teenagers will refuse to be interviewed in future.

Which seems no better than the other such claims made by other such organisations like government departments.

If this is true, then a specific exemption in the Scottish FOI Act may apply.

Other exemptions, such as breach of confidence, may also apply. This means the “catastrophe” the researchers warn about may not be imminent at all.

I think if I were a member of the UK Campaign for Freedom of Information, and I read this thinly-veiled attack piece, I’d be considering getting a new director assigned.

So there you have it , Stirling University not wanting to disclose it's research data to an applicant under the FOI Act , the lead researcher says that even with anonymised data they had promised absolute confidentiality . No-one can promise that , for there are certain things that if revealed during an interview must be reported to the competent authority e.g. terrorism , abuse and professional misconduct . No competent Research Ethics Committee should allow a promise of total anonymity or absolute confidentiality for they are not possible ; the most that can be promised is conditional confidentiality .
When the researchers undertook this work supported by CRUK ( who receive their income from the general public , including smokers ) they have an obligation to publish the results and offer the data for peer review . Thus Phillip Morris have every right to request to check the veracity of the researchers analysis .

On August 13, 2011, the Egyptian daily Roz Al-Yousef published an interview[1] with Sheikh ‘Adel Shehato, a senior official in Egyptian Islamic Jihad (EIJ), who, on March 23, 2011, was freed from prison in the wake of the Egyptian revolution. He was imprisoned in 1991 upon returning from a three-year sojourn in Afghanistan.

In the interview, Shehato expressed complete opposition to democracy “because it is not the faith of the Muslims, but the faith of the Jews and Christians.” He said that although the youth of the Arab revolutions have not declared the implementation of shari’a as one of their goals, the mujahideen nonetheless identify with their aspiration to overthrow the Arab rulers, whom they had always considered “infidels who must be killed because they do not rule according to the shari’a.” He added, however, that “once Allah’s law is applied, the role of the people will end and Allah will reign supreme.” He went on to say that although he supports Al-Qaeda’s ideology, shari’a law would not be enforced by violence but by da’wa (preaching), whereas violence would be used only against the infidel Arab rulers.

Shehato said that if the mujahideen came to power in Egypt, they would launch a campaign of Islamic conquests aimed at subjecting the entire world to Islamic rule. Muslim ambassadors would be appointed to each country, charged with calling upon them to join Islam willingly, but if the countries refused, war would be waged against them. He also described the nature of the Islamic state to be established in Egypt: there would be no trade or cultural ties with non-Muslims; tourist sites at the pyramids, the Sphinx, and Sharm Al-Sheikh would be shut down “because the tourists come [there] to drink alcohol and fornicate,” and all tourists wishing to visit Egypt would be required to comply with the conditions and laws of Islam; all art, painting, singing, dancing, and sculpture would be forbidden, and all culture would be purely Islamic.

Our stupid politicians are praising the "Arab Spring" , that moderately reasonably leaders are being replaced by the most extreme of Islamic terrorists ; the thing is they do not give a damn . The Tundra Tabloids picked upon this diatribe from what Cameron would call a moderate Muslim ; this is their true aim .

If you want to see what a disarmed society looks like, look no further than England.

Thousands of angry, drunk, violent thugs running wild and stealing anything they can carry. Shopkeepers and homeowners crippled with fear, unable to defend their loved ones or their property. Innocent citizens forced to watch helplessly while their life’s dreams — everything they worked so hard to build and acquire — are carried out the door, or smashed to pieces, or burned to the ground.

Men, women and children forced to strip naked in the streets, while packs of criminals laugh and ridicule them before making off with their clothing.

The fact is, when British politicians stripped their citizens of their God-given right to self-defense, they robbed them of their freedom and their dignity.

Sales of baseball bats are up over 5,000% on Amazon.co.uk. This isn’t to mark the beginning of little league season. These are desperate homeowners and shopkeepers purchasing the best - and in reality, only - self-defense tool that the British government will allow them to own . . . at least for now.

If past is prologue, this flood of baseball bats into London will spark cries from government leaders for mandatory bat registration and a wave of new laws on how, when, and under what circumstances British citizens may carry or swing a bat. After all, this is exactly how British citizens lost their gun rights.

First came mandatory gun licensing. Next came a wave of restrictions on firearms ownership. Then came the outright gun bans.

It has been illegal to own a handgun in Britain for nearly 15 years. As a result, Britain’s violent crime rate has soared. In fact, Britain consistently clocks-in with the highest violent crime rate in all of Europe. Last week’s riots notwithstanding, you are six times more likely to be mugged in London than in New York. These are the inconvenient statistics that the gun-ban crowd likes to sweep under the rug.

As if banning handguns didn’t send a strong enough message to criminals that British citizens are ripe for the picking, the British government went even further in 1999.

Recall the tragic story of Tony Martin, the British farmer who was awakened one night to the sound of breaking glass and found two burglars in his home. Martin had been robbed six times before. This time, he went downstairs, retrieved a shotgun, and fired at the intruders.

For this, Martin received life in prison for killing one of the burglars, ten years for wounding the other thug, and one additional year for possession of an unregistered shotgun. The wounded burglar served just 18 months of a three-year sentence and was given $5,000 in legal assistance from Britain’s Legal Services Commission so he could sue Martin for violating his civil rights.

I remember the Rodney King riots in 1992, in L.A., which were basically race riots much like what has taken place over in London. I remember how the urban blacks turned on the businesses in their own neighborhoods and sacked them, much like what we have seen in London, last week. Chic psychologists will tell you that of course a mob has no brain; it is sheer violence and primal id, unleashed. What really happens is the poor classes sense a source of entertainment, and an opportunity to loot, get free stuff - the looters in L.A. were crying out, "It's Christmastime! It's Christmastime!"

I also remember how the businesses of the local Korean shopkeepers became a prime target of choice - because the urban blacks, in a twisted logic - view the Koreans as keeping them down via their success. When I first came to America I did what work was available, and the urban blacks I worked with told me themselves: "The Orientals are willing to do any job no matter how hard or how low and for half the price. They live ten or twenty to a two room apartment, packed in their like sardines and save money that way, start buying up all the beat up run-down real estate. Then the Orientals become the landlords in the poor areas, and the Orientals run the cash registers."

I can hear it now - I'm going to be called a racist for daring to say the above. Whatever - the very word 'racism' has been made meaningless by the people who throw it out at the drop of a hat. I call it the way I see it, and being in a bi-racial marriage makes it even more meaningless when thrown at me. What took place in the U.K. was in fact a series of race riots, first in London and then it spread to Birmingham and Manchester; where mostly African and West Indian blacks targeted the whites but more especially the East Indian shopkeepers, who are fastidious merchants and restauranteers. This phenomenon is a kind of racism where one minority targets another minority.

But that is not my point.

My point is that in when these kind of race riots occurred in L.A., the only shops that survived the savage onslaught were in fact the very establishments that were targeted as primo pickings: the Korean businesses, because of the sentiments expressed above. And the reason why they survived is because the Koreans are very organized; every Korean community has a Korean Association, and almost every Korean businessman has served in the ROK military, and as any American who has pulled duty in the Republic of Korea will tell you, ROK soldiers are the toughest on Earth and THEY DO NOT F*CK AROUND.

The Korean merchants of East L.A. armed themselves with their legally-acquired AR-15s, Mini-14s and Remington 870s, and manned their grocery stores and laundromats. When the looters came to Korea Town, they were met by volleys of rifle and shotgun fire.

I toured the riot-hit neighborhoods of East L.A. and downtown Hollywood not long after the riots and saw for myself the damage the inhabitants had brought upon themselves. What stood out was the Korean businesses. There were some broken windows and some incidental fire damage from adjacent structures, but it was remarkable to see these islands of civilization amongst the rubble and the burnt out storefronts.

Moral of the story: arm yourself with as many guns as you can get your hands on and keep them as close to yourself as possible. The right to self-defense is derived from Deity, it is natural law, and the way it is expressed in the Constitution reads: " . . . shall not be infringed . . ."

What took place in the U.K. last week is vivid example of how the Road to Hell is paved with good intentions. Be very distrustful of any politician who expresses any kind of sentiment toward the restriction or registration of gun ownership because now we see where it leads.

EU demands that Britain admit immigrants intending to go straight on to welfare

The European Commission may finally have hit on an issue that jerks Britain from its euro-torpor – an issue that simultaneously presses the buttons of border control, welfare abuse and Brussels intrusiveness. Whether from hubris, power-hunger or from sheer stupidity, Eurocrats are demanding that Britain stop asking immigrants to show that they won’t immediately start accessing the social security system.

As the law stands, people wishing to settle in Britain must demonstrate that they have the means to support themselves, either through work or through an alternative source of income such as a pension. The European Commission claims that this amounts to discrimination against EU citizens, who are supposed to enjoy the same rights as British nationals.

In fact, as so often happens, Eurocrats are disregarding the plain text of their own rules. Article 7(1) of the Free Movement Directive gives EU citizens the right to reside in another member state only if they have “sufficient resources for themselves and their family members not to become a burden on the social assistance system of the host Member State”.

In order to get around this clause, the European Commission is deploying a piece of sheer sophistry. It argues that, if immigrants were able to top up their income with British benefits, they would have “sufficient resources”.

In May, the Supreme Court ruled on the claim of a Latvian pensioner, who had just moved to Britain and had demanded Pension Credit on grounds that her Latvian pension was too small. Although our courts like to rule in favour of immigrants, the law here was so clear-cut that, by 4-1, judges turned her down. If the European Commission were to get its way, she would not only be able to claim Pension Credit, but also council tax and housing subsidies – despite not having paid a penny into the system.

This blog has droned on and on about the way in which the EU is preventing the Coalition from fulfilling its manifesto promises. This ruling – if upheld by the European Court of Justice – would strike down Iain Duncan Smith’s pension reforms. His scheme, which has been warmly applauded across the political spectrum, aims to replace the current complicated system of state pensions with a flat entitlement, available to all pensioners regardless of assets, employment history or past contributions.

Such a scheme, however, depends on a minimum residency requirement. (New Zealand, which operates a system very like the one IDS is proposing, makes payments only to those who have spent at least ten years in the country.) If every EU resident over the age of 66 whose income came to less than £140 a week were able to draw a British pension, the system would be bankrupted. Are we past caring?

Until the eighteenth century Britain was prepared to fight wars based on religion , the people supporting this , however now our " Government " expects us to allow ourselves to be disenfranchised and place ourselves at the mercy of Islam . Islam is not just a religion but a way of life , has its own code of law , its own financial system , all to be found in the Koran . Actually this is paralleled by the system that the Nazi's had .

In her latest book, Cruel and Usual Punishment: The Terrifying Global Implications of Islamic Law, author Nonie Darwish paints a chilling description of what lies ahead for Western civilizations that continue down the road of political correctness and appeasement as Islamic (Shariah) law creeps its way into free societies across the globe. Darwish, who was born in Cairo, and moved as a child to Gaza with her family, was raised Muslim – her father founding Palestinian fedayeen units which launched terrorist raids across Israel’s southern border. When Nonie was only eight, her father was assassinated by the IDF, after which he was recognized as a shahid, or martyr for Islam. Darwish immigrated to the United States in 1978.

Islamic Law and the ensuing threats to Western civilization are subjects Darwish discusses with a passion and knowledge borne only of one who grew up within it can have. Having left Islam as an adult and having converted to Christianity, she has shared her experiences in Islam with her first book, Now They Call Me Infidel. Renee Taylor for FSM: What are some of the implications for Western civilizations of accepting Shariah law into their societies?

Nonie Darwish: Today, Muslims have moved to Europe, America, Australia and Canada. They argued for Shariah law and got it. In England now, they are practicing marriage and inheritance laws. It is important for the West to realize and understand that Islamic law does not give equal rights to all. It discriminates between men and women. There are laws for Muslims, laws for non-Muslims. Women and non-Muslims have much more oppressive laws, giving Muslim men authority over them. If we allow such laws, we will find ourselves approving discrimination in our society between people. That is totally against Western democracy and values, especially the U.S. Constitution. I wrote this book because it is very important for the West to understand what they allow. Shariah law itself was not part of Islam when Mohammed died. It was created by the Muslim heads of state because Islam was moving very fast to conquer many countries. They needed Islamic law to rule over all these lands. It is inspired by the Koran and by the Hadith sayings of Mohammed. All areas of Islamic society are rooted in Islamic law, which is tyrannical law.

Slavery, for example, has never been abolished by Islam. If you read Muslim Shariah law, it is full of regulation of slaves. Sexual slavery of women captured in war is allowed, which was practiced by Mohammed. Even today, sexual slaves are accepted and all over the Middle East. Honor killings are rooted in Islamic law. For example, the murders for which a Muslim will never have punishment: to kill an apostate, to kill an adulterer – which is usually a woman, and honor killings. If you allow the killings of an apostate or an adulteress woman in the form of vigilante justice under Islamic law, you are endorsing honor killing. There are so many laws you cannot imagine that are brutal and unfair. A woman, for example, cannot divorce her husband, only a man can divorce her. I have an entire chapter in my book about the Muslim marriage contract. All of this is to open the eyes of the West to something totally against their own value system and democracy.

RT: With the world at risk, why do you think other countries are not taking the situation seriously? There seems to be a lot of appeasement.

ND: Unfortunately, there is no united policy across the West with regard to radical Islam. I believe the reason is there are so many Muslim countries around the world and many of them are oil rich and use oil as a weapon blackmailing Western countries. Appease them and assimilate them. Under Shariah, one of the major threats of a Muslim head of state is jihad. There is a law in Shariah law that says the head is to move Muslims to establish their religion. He must organize jihad against non-Muslim countries. They must be conquered. Why the West is in denial, I do not know. That is why I wrote the book, to inform the average Westerner what Shariah is. The book deals with all aspects of Shariah, what jihad is, and the obligations of Muslims to kill Jews and Christians and any non-Muslims in the jihad to who do not accept Islam.

That is why, unfortunately, when a Muslim leader stands up for Israel, he is labeled an apostate because he is doing something against his own Islamic law. A Muslim head of state must continue the Jihad against non-Muslim countries, especially those who neighbor a Muslim country. When President Sadat signed a peace treaty with Israel, he was assassinated. The reason was he violated Islamic law which demanded he be at permanent war with a non-Muslim adjacent state. This is happening everywhere. In India, Kosovo, Chechnya. If the West stays in denial, we will see the same in France.

RT: How can the average citizen get involved in understanding Islamic Law and how it is going to affect them and their way of life?

ND: It is very important that we separate the law of Islam from the religion of Islam. You see, a religion is private. When a minority comes to a country, they have a relationship with their god. The minute they begin to enforce a law on that country, that act goes into the realm of politics. It goes into the realm of the law of the land. That also violates our separation of church and state, the separation of mosque and state. The West doesn’t understand that under Shariah law, there is no separation of mosque and state. The mosque is the state and the state is the mosque. The West which prides itself on freedom and democracy, freedom of speech, equal rights for women and minorities, they have to understand that this is not a religious right. Muslims will say you are depriving them of their religious rights. No, you are not. This is political Islam. It has nothing to do with a personal relationship with God. It is about trying to control the country which they have immigrated to. America has fought so hard for women’s rights – are we going to start honor killings? There was an honor killing of two beautiful young girls in Texas by their father who was from Egypt, a taxi driver. He was not caught because he left the country. There are so many horrible laws. We must never think this is a religion because the duty of a religion is to protect you with rights. A religion doesn’t discriminate and torture and that is a violation of your rights, a violation of church and state.

A majority of Muslims are much like everyone else. What I am talking about is not the people – the problem is the law which discriminates and oppresses. There are so many oppressed people in the Muslim world. Look at the eyes of the people in the West Bank of Gaza or in Iraq or Egypt. The bottom line in every society is the law. Under Islamic Shariah law, the testimony of a woman is half that of a man. If a man and a woman go to court, guess who wins? This is what I am talking about – I’m not talking about the people, I’m talking about the law. If people don’t have justice under the law, they are living in a jungle. There are stocks and bonds sold from Islamic countries in American called Shariah finance. The profits from such financial deals go in the pockets of those Muslim countries. They use these profits to enforce Shariah law across Africa and other poor countries.

RT: Do most Muslims outside the political hierarchy understand and support Shariah law? Or would they like to see an end to it?

ND: There are some movements against Shariah, but they are calling them apostates and killing them. Unfortunately, under Islamic law, in all the books of Shariah, to deny Shariah is equal to denying Islam. The penalty is death. That is why there is no feminist movement in the Muslim world. I know two feminists in the Middle East, one in Egypt and one in Baharain. The one in Baharain was advocating divorce. She is now prevented from speaking or writing. The one in Egypt has a fatwah against her and had to leave the country because she could not protect herself.

RT: What do you think it would take to stop the encroachment of Islamic law into the West?

ND: The West must understand what Islamic law is without political correctness. The dictatorships in the Middle East are the creation of Shariah law. The only thing the West wants from the Middle East is an honest transaction of here is our dollars, give us your oil, but the Muslim world wants to blackmail the West to convert it to Islam. It is a very high price for oil.

RT: Why do you think non-Muslims, with all the information out there regarding Shariah law, are ignoring the warning signs?

ND: My book is the first book ever to explain Shariah. hariah books themselves are rarely translated into English and very few people want to go into the legal terminologies. I studied for one year to be able to explain Shariah in a way that it is understandable. I did a lot of quotations from Shariah and explained them. It is all documented. The West must wake up and start understanding because Shariah law says that for Muslims it is obligatory to lie if the purpose of the lie is the furtherance of Islam. Many Muslims don’t even know what Shariah law is exactly. They have lived under it for so many years.

RT: Do you believe that, under any circumstance, Shariah law and Western law can co-exist?

ND: No It is totally opposite and if we allow it among Muslims it is not going to end there.

RT: We have had several instances in the United States where Muslims sued their employers for prayer times during work hours, cab drivers refusing to carry passengers with alcohol….

ND: That is how they operate. You have women who want to cover their faces to get a driver’s license. You cannot bend the rules. The police must be able to look at your face and your license to identify you. So what do they want? They want to completely abolish our laws and put in their own laws. It doesn’t work this way.

RT: How does the “peaceful Muslim”, who says they don’t advocate the violent teaching of the Koran, reconcile their beliefs?

ND: I don’t understand. I personally cannot reconcile my beliefs, which is why I left Islam. It is very clear that Jews and Christians are infidels. The Koran has very derogatory words for them. Muslims are ordered not to talk to them, that they are filth. Some Muslims just do the five pillars of Islam – to pray and to fast… To them, that is their religion, which is very minimal and they are happy with those five pillars. They ignore 99% of their religion and only concentrate on the prayer. When something like 9/11 happens, they are silent because they know if they speak out against Jihad, they become apostates. That is why so many Americans are left wondering why are they silent. As much as they might be good people and citizens, they don’t commit crimes, by being silent against the tyranny of radical Islam, they are really feeding the monster. They are not standing up against it.

RT: What are your thoughts on the situation in Israel and what do you think Israel must do to stop Hamas?

ND: It is rooted in Shariah. Why is it an eternal problem for Muslims? Why do they want to destroy Israel? Many Muslims don’t want to tell you the truth. They don’t want to tell you it is their intention to destroy Israel completely. Jews have rooted themselves under Islam. Islamic law does not want them to govern themselves in the Middle East. Muslims these days don’t want to say it is their holy laws to totally eradicate Israel. They complain of occupation. Israel left Gaza. In response, Gaza took all their missiles to the border and started bombing Israel again. This is something the West doesn’t understand. At the end of every Friday prayer, I used to always hear that the Jews and the Christians must be destroyed. This is something we grew up hearing every day. It is such a radical system.

RT: Is there anything we haven’t touched on that you would add for our readers?

ND: The dynamic of the Muslim family, because of polygamy, is very different. Giving one man/one woman marriage has given them [women] respect and honor. If you start giving away the one man/one woman marriage in the West, we give away our future. The reason the Muslim world is so angry is because the Muslim marriage has no dignity and it humiliates women. A Muslim woman is so insecure in her marriage and there is no trust between the family members. That is why the Christian marriage and family unit is the most blessed thing America has.

Several appeals have been launched to help Cantabrians following today's devastating earthquake.

ANZ launched an appeal and announced it would make the first donation, $1 million, and Westpac has donated $1 million to a Salvation Army appeal. BNZ has also pledged $1m.

The Salvation Army re-launched its Canterbury Earthquake Appeal, with national fund raising co-ordinator Major Robbie Ross saying a tremendous effort was required to help those already living with the hardships and psychological effects of the original quake and its aftershocks.

"Our experience with the September quake showed us the great emotional shock such an event can have on people - and now there is the added dimension of some people grieving for loved ones," he said.

"There will be myriad material needs by those who have lost possessions and homes. We are appealing for cash donations to strengthen our response."

The Salvation Army also asked its members to pray for the people of Canterbury.

Anyone wanting to donate to the The Salvation Army appeal could call 0800 53 00 00 or do it online at www.salvationarmy.org.nz or to Westpac account 03 0207 0617331 00.

"Our thoughts are with the people affected by today's earthquake, our staff in the regions and their families who have been affected by today's earthquake," ANZ New Zealand chief executive David Hisco said.

"It is terrible that they have had to go through another natural disaster and of such devastating scale just as Christchurch was attempting to rebuild and move on from the September earthquake.

"Today's reports of loss of life and injury from this disaster are simply overwhelming. Our sympathies are with all of those who have been affected."

Westpac New Zealand chief executive George Frazis said the thoughts and support of the bank and its staff nationwide were with them.

"We particularly give our condolences to those families who have lost loved ones."

BNZ chief executive Andrew Thorburn said his bank would be doing everything it could to support those who were suffering.

The Auckland University Students' Association was first off the mark, launching an immediate street appeal to raise money for the people of Christchurch affected by the quake.

"No words can express the horror of the scenes we have seen coming in from Christchurch," association president Joe McCrory said.

"Thoughts of every University of Auckland student are with the people of Christchurch, their families and friends," he said.

Anyone wanting to make a donation should contact the association on (09) 309 0789, or make a donation in person around the Student Union Building on the University of Auckland campus.

Meanwhile, Pike River Disaster Relief Trust chairman and Greymouth mayor Tony Kokshoorn announced the trust would no longer accept donations for the November mining disaster, which claimed 19 lives, and instead urged people to donate to the Christchurch earthquake appeals.

Like all dictators he is a coward , otherwise he would prove the legitimacy of his democratic pretensions by requiring all of the countries in the E.U. to hold binding referendums on whether to stay in the Union or to leave it . I would guess that the populations of the net contributing countries would vote to leave .

2011: A Bright New dawn for the EU.. Eh?

Or at least that is what Mr Barroso seems to be suggesting with his speech today in Brussels,

The start of this New Year marks, I believe, an important new phase in European integration. In this semester we will make real progress on stronger economic governance and policy coordination in the European Union.

This semester's news will be clear: it is not only the so-called "federalists" who want to see more economic governance and co-ordination; it is the markets and also our international partners that are expecting it. More economic governance and coordination is not an ideological dream. It is a pragmatic need. Those defending it are not utopians, but realists.

The Commission's proposals are on the table and we will keep driving this agenda, and we will come with further policy initiatives.

In fact work has already been producing some results. On the 1st January, the three new supervisory authorities for the financial markets have begun their work.

I just want everybody to be clear about this, the people in favour of this are, according to the former Marxist,

1) Fedralists,
2) Markets
3) International partners.

Well yes, I conceed that federasts might be keen on "stronger economic governance and policy coordination" they have always been in favour of it. But the markets? Really? They may see it as one solution to the problem, but it isn't their be all and end all in any way. Saying that the markets have a desire is weird in itself. If they desire anything it is that they desire stability, but if there was perfect stability then they would ossify, what they need is compaetition, and of course having one size fits all policies certainly does not encourage that.

The City of London for example has not been vocal in its support for Mr Barosso's exemplars, the new EU regulatory bodies of which he boasts. I would love him to be able to point to the evidence that 'the markets' have any such desire.

International partners. Eh? Such as? The UN? What the hell is he talking about here? Does China want to see this, or India, or anybody? Is he just making it up?

And even if these unamed international partners did indeed want what he suggests they want, so what! Are we to set policy to please them? Is that what it is all about? Doing what others want us to do, rather than what we want to do?

And of course there is something missing from his analysis isn't there? Popular support. You know, those inconvient things, people.

He bangs on about how he is such a democrat but neglects the one thing that matters, the support of the people he purportedly represents. So a pox on him and his claim to realism. Realism would make him realise that he has no mandate, no legitimacy no support from those who matter for any of this.

As an addition, the remainder of his speech was such a hodge podge that it is hard to criticise, but here goes anyway.

Let me tell you very frankly that I am unhappy with the progress made on energy efficiency.

Let me tell you something, you condescending patronisng autocrat. I don't care if you are disappointed with the countries of Europe. Who ever thought it mattered whether you are disappointed or not? The nations and peoples of Europe are not little children for you to tut at and wag your stubby Iberian finger at. How dare you?

And they you compound this by being stupid as well. You want growth, but you want to cut energy use by 20%.

Work it out you lesser Faraday, you pygmoid genius, work it out. If you and you cabal set binding figures of a 20% cut in energy use, then you are going to get a cut in growth. It is that simple. To think otherwise is not realisim, but the utopianism you deride and deny.

Just go home, take early retirement and let the people of this continent run their own lives free from the hectoring idiocies and inanities that spew ill-formed from your lacivious lips.

I just returned from Haiti with Hebler. We flew in at 3 AM Sunday to the scene of such incredible destruction on one side, and enormous ineptitude and criminal neglect on the other.

Port o Prince is in ruins. The rest of the country is fairly intact.Our team was a rescue team and we carried special equipment that locates people buried under the rubble. There are easily 200,000 dead, the city smells like a charnal house. The bloody UN was there for 5 years doing apparently nothing but wasting US Taxpayers money. The ones I ran into were either incompetent or outright anti American. Most are French or french speakers, worthless every damn one of them. While 1,800 rescuers were ready willing and able to leave the airport and go do our jobs, the UN and USAID ( another organization full of little OBamites and communists that openly speak against America) These two organizations exemplared their parochialism by:

USAID, when in control of all inbound flights, had food and water flights stacked up all the way to Miami, yet allowed Geraldo Rivera, Anderson Cooper and a host of other left wing news puppies to land.

Pulled all the security off the rescue teams so that Bill Clinton and his wife could have the grand tour, whilst we sat unable to get to people trapped in the rubble.

Stacked enough food and water for the relief over at the side of the airfield then put a guard on it while we dehydrated and wouldn't release a drop of it to the rescuers.

No shower facilities to decontaminate after digging or moving corpses all day, except for the FEMA teams who brought their own shower and decon equipment, as well as air conditioned tents.

No latrine facilities, less digging a hole if you set up a crapper everyone was trying to use it.

I watched a 25 year old Obamite with the USAID shrieking hysterically, berate a full bird (0-6) Colonel in the Ai r Force, because he countermanded her orders, whilst trying to unscrew the air pattern. " You don't know what your president wants! The military isn't in charge here..... we are!"

If any of you are thinking of giving money to the Haitian relief, or to the UN don't waste your money. It will only go to further the goals of the French and the Liberal left.

If we are a fair and even society, why is it that only white couples are adopting Haitian orphans. Where the hell is that vocal minority that is always screaming about the injustice of American society.

Bad place, bad situation, but a perfect look at the new world order in action. New Orleans magnified a thousand times. Haiti doesn't need democracy, what Haiti needs is Papa Doc. That's not just my opinion , that is what virtually every Haitian we talked with said. "The French run the UN......treat us the same as when we were a colony....., at least Papa Doc ran the country."

Oh, and as a last slap in the face the last four of us had to take US Airways home from Phoenix. They slapped me with a $590 baggage charge for the four of us. The girl at the counter was almost in tears because she couldn't give us a discount or she would lose her job.

It must be said, that like the breaking of a great dam, the American decent into Marxism is happening with breath taking speed, against the back drop of a passive, hapless sheeple, excuse me dear reader, I meant people.

True, the situation has been well prepared on and off for the past century, especially the past twenty years. The initial testing grounds was conducted upon our Holy Russia and a bloody test it was. But we Russians would not just roll over and give up our freedoms and our souls, no matter how much money Wall Street poured into the fists of the Marxists.

Those lessons were taken and used to properly prepare the American populace for the surrender of their freedoms and souls, to the whims of their elites and betters.

First, the population was dumbed down through a politicized and substandard education system based on pop culture, rather then the classics. Americans know more about their favorite TV dramas then the drama in DC that directly affects their lives. They care more for their "right" to choke down a McDonalds burger or a BurgerKing burger than for their constitutional rights. Then they turn around and lecture us about our rights and about our "democracy". Pride blind the foolish.

Then their faith in God was destroyed, until their churches, all tens of thousands of different "branches and denominations" were for the most part little more then Sunday circuses and their televangelists and top protestant mega preachers were more then happy to sell out their souls and flocks to be on the "winning" side of one pseudo Marxist politician or another. Their flocks may complain, but when explained that they would be on the "winning" side, their flocks were ever so quick to reject Christ in hopes for earthly power. Even our Holy Orthodox churches are scandalously liberalized in America.

The final collapse has come with the election of Barack Obama. His speed in the past three months has been truly impressive. His spending and money printing has been a record setting, not just in America's short history but in the world. If this keeps up for more then another year, and there is no sign that it will not, America at best will resemble the Wiemar Republic and at worst Zimbabwe.

These past two weeks have been the most breath taking of all. First came the announcement of a planned redesign of the American Byzantine tax system, by the very thieves who used it to bankroll their thefts, loses and swindles of hundreds of billions of dollars. These make our Russian oligarchs look little more then ordinary street thugs, in comparison. Yes, the Americans have beat our own thieves in the shear volumes. Should we congratulate them?"

As you may be aware I am a devotee of the Socratic school of Philosophy , in that spirit I pose the following dilemma from an ethical not a political position .

" If the opinions and policies of the BNP are not allowed to be aired on the television , radio or the news media then how am I able to make an informed decision on who to vote for . Questions;
does this breach electoral law , and if I am not allowed to make a informed decision are my human rights being infringed ? "

I would appreciate serious consideration of this dilemma .

Following my visit to hospital, for surgery , I have nothing but admiration for the ward staff at the MRI , even the food was good and the domestic staff very attentive . It did not escape me that if a ward is efficient and nursing staff display the highest care standards , then that ward is well managed and led ; it was telling that the ward manager was not afraid to do normal duties and get his hands dirty . Regrettably I have to return in a week for further surgery so bloging will be light , so whats new you may say , however I should be able to deliver an insight on the patient experience .

DocJr. has a new Jeep Cherokee , a raised all singing and dancing beast with all the bells and whistles , which he takes " off-roading " a sport that seems incredibly dangerous and risky and having ones Jeep caked in mud six inches thick is a badge of honour . Where did I go wrong in his upbringing !!

A visit to hospital .

The lack of posts in the last few weeks is due to my being in hospital , I had extremely good care however the boredom was mind-numbing ; I can tell you that when I return to hospital in a few weeks I will be taking my laptop . It would be a sound idea if I could continue my work and keep up the blog whilest in enforced rest , it will also save my sanity ; so you can expect the inside track on the NHS in action .

Sorry for my absence on the web , but my computer has been under severe viral attack for more than a week , resulting in complete breakdown and a total loss of the hard drive ; 35 gigabytes of information lost . All documents research papers and 200 e-books everything .
To brighten my mood Doc Jr. has come to visit for 3 weeks , to check on " The Old Man " , his first words on seeing me " my , but you are looking old ", he nearly got dumped on the side of the motorway .
He tells me that a further 630,000 became jobless in March , the US is not a great place for employment prospects at the moment , I wonder if Chicago is being especially hard hit . I can tell you that he is not enamoured with Brown's Britain and that the chances of him returning permanently are remote , vanishingly so . I do however thank him for a 14oz. tin of Sir Walter Raleigh pipe tobacco , this should keep me happy for a few days .
Lady Doc Jr. had a birthday today and we enjoyed a truly excellent lunch in a restaurant that I had not previously tried , I can say that it will not be neglected any more ; having lunch with family is one of life's greatest pleasures .

In Chicago , as in most other areas of the USA , the state of the employment situation in the service and construction sectors is dire , it has not escaped it's share of the 610,000 persons who became unemployed in February ; it is projected that by July some 3million will have become unemployed . One thing to remember is that over there , there is for most people , no benefits ; if you do not work there is no support , no "dole" , sweet devil all .
Doc Jr. is fortunate to have a good and supportive friend were he lives , and for that I am most grateful ; there can be nothing worse than being alone in a foreign land and having no-one to look out for you .
I pray that the situation does not get to the stage that the photo above depicts , the recession hit unemployed queuing for a job , let us hope that the huge powerhouse that is the US soon recovers and industry picks up again .

The Decline of the English-Speaking World

I will defend all Western countries but I feel especially close to Britain, which makes it all the more sad to see how humiliated this once-great nation currently is. The English language once conquered the world. Now the rest of the world is conquering the English-speaking countries. If current trends continue, people in Singapore will know English while the nation that created the English language will cease to exist.

At the same time as sharia law has gained official recognition as a part of the British legal system and Muslims proudly talk about conquering the Western world, a British woman was arrested because of a supposedly "racist" doll she kept in her window. In al-Britannia a Muslim man can claim benefits for children with multiple wives and brag about subduing the country and reducing its traditional inhabitants to second-rate citizens or worse, but you cannot have a "racially insensitive" doll in your own home, at least not if you're white.

In my book Defeating Eurabia, I have a chapter about the situation in Britain. Since I'm already here I can again repeat that the book, which is available online as well in a printed version, can be republished for free online or in print and translated to other languages by anybody who wants to, as long as they do not represent a totalitarian ideology. I actively encourage people to do so.

In a survey published in April 2008, one in three medical doctors in Britain said that elderly patients should not be given free treatment if it were unlikely to do them good for long. At the same time, Muslim men with multiple wives have been given the go-ahead to claim extra welfare benefits. Baroness Warnock, an influential government "ethical" adviser suggests that elderly dementia sufferers may have a "duty to die" because they are a financial burden to the state. Elderly Brits have to die, with or without "encouragement," so that the state can afford to pay for all the Nigerians and Bangladeshis who flood the country. The "welfare state" now means that the natives should watch grandma die because she's getting old anyway and we need the money to pay Muslims with multiple wives and numerous children so that they can feel comfortable while they colonize the country.

These incidents may seem unrelated, but they are not. Make no mistake about it: Harassing the natives in order to crush them mentally and destroy any ideas they might harbor about defending their country against foreign colonization is a deliberate strategy on the part of the authorities and the ruling Multiculturalist oligarchy, whether you identify this as the British Labour Party or the European Union (both are correct). Of course, this is about the entire Western world, not just Britain, but Britain is arguably the worst example of all. I am not aware of arrests for "racist" dolls even in Sweden, Belgium or al-Canada, and they are bad cases of suicidal Multiculturalism. Britain in 2009 is no longer the nation that gave us Shakespeare, Newton or Adam Smith; it is the world's largest open-air prison, an enlarged Marxist reeducation camp, a horror story where the authorities wage cultural and demographic warfare against the indigenous people of the country. The only good news is that I sense that native Britons are getting angrier by the day, and will not go quietly into the night.

These destructive trends are not limited to Britain, however. In a comment to Takuan Seiyo's latest essay in his terrific series "From Meccania to Atlantis" at The Brussels Journal, American blog reader Queen made the following comment about the situation in California:

"San Francisco is a Third World toilet. It has a higher per capita murder rate than New York, and one almost as high as Chicago's. It smells bad (the sewers have been malfunctioning for years), and is dirty and shabby. The city budget is 450 million dollars in the red, but they recently spent several hundred thousand dollars on a campaign to provide illegal immigrants with a city ID card so that they could 'access' free city services. Seiyo doesn't mention the worst aspect of the Bologna family slaughter: the illegal immigrant killer was protected from deportation by a taxpayer funded program that paid to ship under-age illegal immigrant crack dealers/gangbangers to 'group homes' in other parts of California so that the feds could not find them and deport them. Those in the 'group homes' simply walked away from them and returned to a life of crime and murder in SF. Too bad for the Bologna family which lost their father and two sons. One wonders how a city that depends on tourism for most of its economy cannot see that it won't survive its descent into Third World toiletude."

It used to be said that trends that start in California today will be evident in the rest of the United States tomorrow. If this remains true, I guess that means that the United States will soon be a Third World entity. I see no reason to expect that this decline will stop under the administration of President Obama, who has for a generation been a member of an organization of anti-white Marxists dedicated to hating the majority population of the country. This only happens in white majority Western countries, since white people have been publicly demonized for so long that many of them believe that they deserve this kind of abuse.

Contrary to the absurd claims about "Eurocentrism," Europeans are traditionally the least ethnocentric people on the planet, which is why we invented sciences such as archaeology because only we possessed the scholarly objectivity to do so. So we are the least ethnocentric peoples on Earth, yet the only ones constantly attacked for ethnocentrism.

I could add that I don't gloat over the plight of the United States. As indicated in my essay Barack Hussein Obama and the Triumph of Marxism, I was apparently one of few Europeans who didn't support the election of Obama. I'm tired of seeing Europeans gloat over the fact that the USA is sinking, just as I am tired of seeing some Americans gloat over Europe's decline. The entire Western world is currently in decline, not just in relative terms as a percentage of the global population or economy, but in real terms as functioning societies.

That being said, although all Western countries without exception are sinking under the weight of Third World mass immigration and in the process becoming a part of the Third World, they are not sinking equally fast. With the exception of France, Belgium and possibly the Netherlands and Sweden, the English-speaking world is leading the disintegration of the West, ideologically and demographically. The entire West is sick, but the Anglosphere is sicker than most. The English-speaking countries still have the most dynamic military traditions of the West, but that counts for little as long as they are used for promoting global Multiculturalism rather than for protecting the home country.

I cannot see that the Anglosphere has more freedom of speech than Continental European countries, either. The USA with its First Amendment does, which is great (we'll see what their new President does about that), but al-Canada is plain nuts and Britain is a Multicultural banana republic. Australia and New Zealand could be a part of Greater China by mid-century. Maybe they will be more prosperous than France will be as a part of Greater Algeria or the United States as a part of Greater Mexico, but by then they will be Asians, not Westerners.

I'm not sure why the Anglosphere is so bad. In the case of Britain, I strongly suspect it's partly caused by a Post-Imperial Stress Syndrome for a nation that once ruled much of the world and now cannot even rule its own suburbs. Empire was their identity. Much of the same can be said about the French. Indeed I suspect that one of their motivations for supporting the awful EU project is for them to resurrect some of their past imperial glory in another form.

Yet this cannot explain the actions of the United States, which is still the world's greatest power although that may not last forever. There is some form of universal proposition nation idea with roots dating back to the Enlightenment at work here. It's the concept that a country is not a nation based on a shared heritage, but an abstract entity which can be joined by absolutely anybody, a bit like an enlarged video club. If you claim that the United States is a "universal" nation and that Hamas-supporting Muslims, with which Westerners have absolutely nothing in common, can and should be imported to the USA, then you are a supporter of the concept of a proposition nation. This idea will eventually kill the United States as we once knew it.

Western elites are committed post-national Globalists. The EU oligarchs want to import 50 million Africans, in addition to expanding the open borders of the EU to include Muslim North Africa and the Middle East. As I've documented in my essays, this is a planned destruction of all European and indeed Western nation states through transnational organizations such as the EU and the UN, in cooperation with local Multiculturalists. There is nothing accidental about this. We need to support, as a matter of principle, all European patriots who fight for their country and their dignity, provided that they do not champion totalitarian ideologies. We're all in the same boat.

Suppose the natives in some Western European countries actually start to seriously resist the organized destruction of their countries, halt mass immigration and reverse Multiculturalism. How will American authorities and media react to this? Frankly, I wouldn't be too surprised if they turn out to be actively hostile to the European natives. Europeans should reach out to American individuals. They are victims of the same Multicultural war against European civilization as we are. But we should expect no sympathy from the American elites. They are a hostile entity just as much as the EU elites are.

As we know, a "Nazi" these days is not one of the Muslims and their Leftist cheerleaders who shout "Death to Jews!" in the streets of Europe; it's any white person who doesn't lie down and die on command. If we don't lie down, we must be Nazis. We are after all Europeans.

Europeans have learned the wrong lessons from Nazism. For instance, the European Union is now actively and deliberately promoting Islamic immigration to Europe by the tens of millions, knowing fully well that they will gradually displace the original inhabitants of the continent. They also know that the people who move in have a culture of extreme anti-Semitism and despise Christianity, just as the Nazis did. Eurabianism has disturbing similarities with Nazism in some ways and with Communism in others. The EU is promoting Lebensraum for a new master race in Europe, just like the Nazis did. They only disagree on which master race to promote. The resurgence of violent anti-Semitism is directly caused by the policies of the EU and the national political elites. To hear them denounce others as "Fascists" is the ultimate fraud.

The EU is currently the planet's most evil organization, an institutionalized attack on the very existence of the native peoples of an entire continent, the most influential and creative civilization in human history. The EU is an organized crime against humanity and we should support absolutely everything that can undermine it as well as Globalism and Multiculturalism throughout the Western world.

That being said, the English-speaking world, and the United States in particular, is responsible for championing one of the most dangerous ideas of our time: the proposition nation. Everybody from Saudi Arabia to Somalia can supposedly be imported to the USA and the American political system should be exported to other cultures, by force if necessary. The USA is supposed to be a "universal nation," but there is no such thing. Under Obama, I fear that the USA will no longer be the land of the free, home of the brave, but rather a global enforcer of non-discrimination and Diversity, the Multicultural Empire. Some would argue that this was the case already under Clinton and Bush, but it certainly will be the case now.

The European Union is a different kind of Multicultural Empire, although it, too, champions a form of proposition nation. I suspect that the idea ultimately dates back to some of the worse strands of Enlightenment thought. The French, who to a great extent have created the ideological and bureaucratic basis of the EU, have their own ideas about assimilating people from all around the world. Those of us who live in Western Europe thus have the misfortune of being exposed to the influence of no less than two Multicultural Empires at the same time.

The "conservative" French President Sarkozy, who praised Arabic as the language of science and high civilization after millions of Frenchmen voted for him in the hope that he would defend France and French culture, has stated that it is a duty for the French to become less French, culturally and genetically, and that the state should aggressively promote this agenda. The goal of Multiculturalism is to destroy a once-great European nation and turn it into an Islamic-dominated Third World entity. Make no mistake about it: This is what Multiculturalists have in store for all of us, if we do not stop them.jords

Why do I bother to pay my debts or taxes when the bankers who caused this disaster get away scot free and instead of being punished are bailed out and are free to carry on their incompetence and be rewarded for it . I wonder if I could use equality legislation to get the government to cover my debts ?

Once more the E.U. is to use the working time directive to turn our hospitals into charnel houses , are those Brussels monsters really suggesting that when a surgeon is in the middle of an operation and his 48hours elapses will he / she be expected to leave the patient open on the table while another surgeon is found . What is even more alarming is that the British Medical Association, by its silence, is condoning the clearly discriminatory behaviours of the moslem doctors - as stated in their M.D.D.A. UK Constitution. It is also disgusting that no government official or new media has even investigated this clear evidence of discrimination.

So please keep the below in mind the next time you go to your muslim doctor or dentist and remember that he does not place YOU or YOUR HEALTH as a priority. Muslim's come first by their very own "code of (un) ethics".

Clearly the MMDDA UK is in violation of the standards of medical practise as stated above.

Can I wish all my readers a very Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year for 2009 .

This has turned out to be a disappointing year , we , the people , have been betrayed by greedy bankers and industrialists and by an incompetent government and an equally incompetent opposition . Any other company would have been allowed to fail if it had become essentially insolvent , but we are told that building societies and banks are special cases , no , if Northern Rock had been allowed to fail we would NOT have had this crisis . Now the foreign owned car industry has the begging bowl out and New Labour will , under the Prince of Darkness , rescue them at OUR expense . However there is no help for us , who are in personal debt , no , we are saddled with Browns wicked legacy for the next 30 years , he is deliberately wrecking this country ; I have seriously queried if he is mentally ill .
I have a granddaughter who will , in a few years , be qualified in an honoured profession , I say to her and her younger brother , start a life elsewhere in a country that appreciates hard working professionals and cherishes freedom , somewhere outside of the E.U.
This is not the Christmas message that I wanted to deliver but circumstances dictate honesty .

Of the original cast few remain , the most prominent being Peter Sallis ( Norman Clegg ) , top left in the picture above .
LotSW is a show that portrays the very best of Northern working class life , the honesty , work ethic and sense of fun , it does it without smut or filth . Even Howard and Marina never get to consummate their flirting , this is British humour at it's best .
It proves that the Ross / Brand filth is not required to get laughs from the public ; Cleggy , Howard , Smiler and Entwhistle are natural comical characters that charm and delight .

That is why I dare to say that the Irish wish for the Lisbon Treaty. It was an insult, Mr. President, to me and to the Irish people what you said during your state visit to Ireland. It was an insult that you met Declan Ganley, a man with no elected mandate. This man has not proven the sources from which his campaign was funded. I just want to inform you what the Irish felt. I wish you that you get the programme of your Presidency through and you will get through what European citizens want to see.

President Vaclav Klaus: Thank you for this experience which I gained from this meeting. I did not think anything like this is possible and have not experienced anything like this for the past 19 years. I thought it was a matter of the past that we live in democracy, but it is post-democracy, really, which rules the EU.

You mentioned the European values. The most important value is freedom and democracy. The citizens of the EU member states are concerned about freedom and democracy, above all. But democracy and freedom are losing ground in the EU today. It is necessary to strive for them and fight for them.

I would like to emphasize, above all, what most citizens of the Czech Republic feel, that for us the EU membership has no alternative. It was me who submitted the EU application in the year 1996 and who signed the Accession treaty in 2003. But the arrangements within the EU have many alternatives. To take one of them as sacrosanct, untouchable, about which it is not possible to doubt or criticize it, is against the very nature of Europe.

As for the Lisbon Treaty, I would like to mention that it is not ratified in Germany either. The Constitutional Treaty, which was basically the same as the Lisbon Treaty, was refused in referendums in other two countries. If Mr. Crowley speaks of an insult to the Irish people, then I must say that the biggest insult to the Irish people is not to accept the result of the Irish referendum. In Ireland I met somebody who represents a majority in his country. You, Mr. Crowley, represent a view which is in minority in Ireland. That is a tangible result of the referendum.

Brian Crowley MEP: With all respect, Mr. President, you will not tell me what the Irish think. As an Irishman, I know it best.

President Vaclav Klaus: I do not speculate about what the Irish think. I state the only measurable data which were proved by the referendum.

In our country the Lisbon Treaty is not ratified because our parliament has not decided on it yet. It is not the President's fault. Let's wait for the decision of both Chambers of the Parliament, that is the current phase of the ratification process in which the President plays no role whatsoever. I cannot sign the Treaty today, it is not on my table, it is up to the parliament to decide about it now. My role will come after the eventual approval of the Treaty in the Parliament. . .

I spotted this at Longrider's blog , he has had the courage to do that which I should have done years ago , when I first saw the way this country was going . I leave Longrider to state his own position :

As I write this, Longrider Towers is awash with boxes, full of possessions gathered over the past two decades. Slowly, the house is becoming depersonalised in preparation for the new occupant. On Thursday evening we will drive to Portsmouth to catch the evening ferry and make our home across the channel.

This is the culmination of an idea that germinated when travelling through the Larzac in the summer of 1990. An idea that grew into buying a house and spending every available holiday for the past five years working to make it a home. There was a point a couple of years back, one starlit night in the quiet moments as one year died and a new one started, when I made the mental adjustment and there was more home than here. Now, looking at the home we’ve known for twenty-one years, I am ready to go.

When we first thought about living in France, our motivation was the countryside, the climate, the pace of life and the French way of doing things. A love/hate relationship with France became more love than hate. In the meantime, my love for my homeland has descended into contempt. Contempt for a population that is so passive that it fails to hold its political class to account. The French will bring the country to a grinding halt if their politicians upset them. They are not always right, but their willingness to say “non!” has my admiration just as the willingness of the British to accept the erosion of our civil liberties with a shrug earns my utmost derision. I have watched in despair as the righteous have eaten away like a cancer at the things that made this nation so great, that made Britain a wonderful place to live. No longer are we free to speak our minds for fear of the industry so willing and ready to take offence, of the righteous who decide what is “acceptable” or not. Thought crime is becoming a reality in 21^st Century Britain.

We live in a country that has reversed the presumption of innocence, that undermines the very principle of justice, where mere suspicion is sufficient justification for the state to seize assets, where law is made on the basis of prejudice and puritan morality rather than reason, evidence or justice, where the citizen is being criminalised and treated as a suspect, where the police are becoming politicised and no longer adopt the Peelian principles, where politicians believe they, not the electorate, are the masters; politicians who treat the electorate with open contempt.

This is a land where youngsters leaving education have A* exam grades yet are barely able to string a sentence together, and mathematical illiterates such as I have to explain to them how to work out percentages. Where our history is being lost or rewritten, a nation that is being taught to be ashamed of its past rather than proud of its heritage.

France is not a common law country, but the French are not followed wherever they go by surveillance cameras, they are not subject to constant demands by the state to poke about in their business. If the state did, they would call a general strike and mean it. The French, when faced with law they do not like, will either get it changed or ignore it. Their national belligerence is something we have forgotten to our cost. I can travel almost all the way to Montpellier and come across only one set of traffic lights and they are switched off. The only speed camera is well signposted and if I take the back road I won’t see one at all. The standard of driving is better, more disciplined and courteous. Oh, and I can sit in my back garden in the summer, in the shade beneath my walnut tree and the loudest thing I will hear is next door’s chickens.

Yes, I’m going for the quality of life. I always was. It’s just a shame, though, that my own country has changed such that I want to leave it behind.

All that said, I’ll be back in December to work…

Chicago really is a beautiful city , the picture illustrates the majesty of this skyline , and I have to report that Doc Jr. has returned home ; for her now regards the United States as his home . Although the employment situation is bleak he hopes to target his skills at those sectors of society that the downturn will have little effect on ; for if one cannot afford to move home one tends to improve the home that you already have . The second group are the wealthy , who are not affected anyway , they are generally prepared to pay for high-end workmanship .
It is now up to him and his team to seek out a living and his colleagues have great faith in his abilities ( I believe that there is already a plan A and a plan B , plan C is being worked on ) , a different and polite approach can often take one far . So I wish them good luck in their endeavours and bon chance .

An historic event .

A momentous change in U.S. politics took place today with the election of Barack Obama to be the 44th. President of the United States . My son , Doc Jr. , who returns to his home in Chicago is ecstatic and discibes what as taken place as iconic , things will never be the same again .
You will know that I have backed Sarah Plain and the sight of Republicans booing her was sickening , they seem to have picked her as the scapegoat , when to pick an old man , lacking in charisma , to go up against a vibrant young man was entirely the fault of the party . I do hope that Palin gets a chance next time .
I want to see three things come from an Obama Presidency :
An adequate free health service for ALL who need it .
A toning down of U.S. military interventions .
An awareness by Black Americans of their true and equal place in society and an increase in literacy and general educational standards in that population to achieve that end .
The forgoing is an enormous task but one that needs doing and I truly say God Bless America .

Winter in Chicago--- from Fulton Park .

Doc Jr is to return to the U.S. in the next few weeks , back to Chicago , and he is so excited ; he is excited that when he gets back Obama may be the President-elect . Such a strange lad , I would have thought that he would tend towards being a Republican , tending towards the Tories here , he says that the U.S. will benefit from a Black person in the White House . If the polls are to be believed he may get his wish , however , in my opinion , he should be careful what he wishes for ; a U.S. that lurches to socialism may be too much for many , Obama may disappoint some of his own supporters .

Still , Doc Jr. is also looking forward to the Chicago winter , snow ,ice and -30oC temperatures , there really is something wrong with him ; The Doc likes the warm , maybe it's something to do with my old bones , so it will be summer when I visit him .

Modern radiotherapy unit .

Having just returned from Cambridge after a great conference I am off to Birmingham to a cancer conference . It is at events such as this that my faith in human nature and the good in people is reinforced , the majority of the scientists who lead the fight against cancer are young , often under 30years of age .

Such as been the advances in cancer treatment that it is now being looked upon as a long term condition , I look forward to learn of the latest advances

You will have noticed that Doc has not done much posting of late , mainly because I had not a great deal of good news to impart . Well salvation is at hand , tomorrow I go to a conference in Cambridge , such a beautiful place to visit .
It will be a pleasure to converse with people of equal intellect , who actually know how to conduct a civil conversation . It was an unexpected discovery to find that just as much knowledge exchange takes place over diner and in the bar ; it is un-nerving to be discussing philosophy at 0200am. and still making sense .
So I go to re-charge my batteries and leave the economic situation behind , along with the Tory party conference who will , I am sure , manage to convince the country that they are still unfit to govern . It is not only the Labour Party that needs a new leader , so do the Tories , the question is who?

Whilest I agree with the basis of your argument in this fine post , I fear that effectively Islam has already taken Europe . The people have had to stand back and watch their national governments and the E.U. make Muslims "preferred" citizens . Benefits , housing , household goods and cars , all are given to the immigrant people ; our own people in need are given very little .
Yes , the native populations could do something about it ; sheer force of numbers would prevail in any confrontation , however our governments relies on the fact that we are law abiding citizens . The immigrants , on the other hand , care nothing for our laws and break them with impunity , knowing that the police are reluctant to take action against them . Islam has already won , I wish that it was not so .

Am I depressed ,despondent or just plain fed-up , no I am livid ; that this once proud nation has been reduced to a state of penury and subservience is enough to induce apoplexy in the mildest of men .

How the " greatest Chancellor in history " , one Gordon Brown , could so miss-manage the country's economy so badly is beyond belief . To reduce the people of this nation to a poverty level not seen since the war years , and that was not a governmental failing , such that even the middle classes are suffering and drastically cutting back , is not easy to do . However Brown has managed it and Darling refuses to do anything about it , even to make it worse , just to get back at Gordon . Personal debt , banks collapsing ,job losses , when will we wake up up and get rid of this scum , this winter people are going to die and their murderers will be Brown and his government of criminals .
I raise the spectre of subservience as a warning , Brown's illegal act in giving away to a foreign power the sovereignty of the U.K. by the Lisbon Treaty must be punished .
Not by a slap on the wrist or as The Huntsman ( grand chap ) says , a reconciliation commission , no they should be tried and when found guilty , treated in the same way as Black Jack Ketchum was treated .... see photo at top of post .

The EU Lisbon Treaty of 2007, to all intents and purposes, is identical to the EU Treaty of 2004 (The EU Constitution rejected by French and Dutch voters), but with paragraphs being relocated and consequently renumbered.

Page 412 Article 21 of the Charter of the Lisbon Treaty is identical to Article 2-81 in the EU Treaty of 2004 and states, “Any discrimination on the basis of… sexual orientation or any other factor is prohibited”.

In all previous treaties, such as the Nice Treaty, there is a protocol which excludes paedophilia from the prohibition of discrimination (NJS 16 AUG).

Staggeringly, in the Lisbon Treaty, and also according to the view of the EU Information Office, there is no protocol on paedophilia!

The EU culture radicals have been there!

Without such a protocol, the Lisbon Treaty Article 21 legalises paedophilia in line with other sexual orientations. Some might argue that other articles in the Lisbon Treaty might be interpreted so as to contradict Article 21, but the fact is those writing the EU Charter Article 21 in the Lisbon Treaty were well aware of the exclusion of paedophilia from previous treaties.

So was this just an oversight? Hardly! Those national parliaments which have ratified the Lisbon Treaty have been asleep. Many, if not most, members of these parliaments have admitted they have not even read the Lisbon Treaty, preferring to entrust its construction to professional lawyers.

However, the authors of the Treaty have undoubtedly studied the earlier treaties carefully, to ascertain that all that they desired was carried over in the new treaty, while everything we the people want, was omitted. Government officials, therefore, have quietly but deliberately, chosen to preserve the nasty crime, paedophilia, so that it is now in our culture. Why?

The explanation is simple: they want to placate the Arab muslims. The supposedly holy prophet was happy with little girls, and even his deputy, Iran’s Ayatollah Khomeinei wrote in his book Tahrirolvasyleh in 1990:

“A man can have sexual pleasure of a child as young as a baby. But he should not penetrate her vagina.” However, he declared the second form of child sex abuse is acceptable ….”

This sounds ridiculous to a sane person’s ears, but actually, Europe, with France in the lead, has worked hard for a cultural, political and economic alliance / entente (”Eurabia”) with the Arab countries, particularly since the oil crisis in 1973. Of course, this “cooperation” includes the acceptance of Muslim culture including child pornography and even abuse - on European soil.

How can our politicians and our most senior lawyers have allowed this disgusting practice become a part of our way of life?

Can they REALLY have DELIBERATELY made paedophilia legal?

WHAT ELSE IS IN THIS DAMNED LISBON TREATY?

WHAT IS TO BE DONE WITH THESE POLITICANS AND LAWYERS WHO HAVE GRANTED CHILD ABUSE RESPECTABILITY?

It is not often that I comment on U.S. politics , however I am moved to do so following the disgusting treatment that Sarah Palin is getting on both sides of the Atlantic . The Times contained sneering articles re: Mrs. Palin , the repetition of scurrilous lies and innuendo , it's petty mindedness is all too apparent for anyone open minded . Indeed it's Obama bias makes balanced reporting all but impossible ,
but when did the truth ever get in the way of a " good story " .
I am particularly upset at the fake sympathy regarding her 17 year old daughters pregnancy , how many politicians have sent their girls away to " Europe " as an excuse to have a child quietly and get it adopted , or even for them to have an abortion . Probably too many to count ; however Sarah Palin did what many mothers do in that situation , give her a hug and get on with dealing with the situation , if nothing else Palin is human , how few politicians have that quality .
The Democrats make much of her inexperience , but she has more executive experience the either Obama or Biden , she is at this moment the Commander in Chief of the Alaskan National Guard and running one of the largest States in the Union . I look forward in a few years to seeing the inauguration of President Palin ,

Russia recognises two new nations .

I am pleased to report that Russia has recognised the sovereignty of South Ossetia and Abkhazia ; predictably the Americans have decried this action . I do not recollect them objecting when the Serbian province of Kosovo illegally declared it's independence ; the sheer hypocrisy of the United States is breathtaking . Accordingly I shall recognise them too .

The latest news in the family is that Doc Jr. is preparing to return to the U.S. following his economic migration ( temporarily ) to the U.K. , his departure , in about a moths time , will be bitter/sweet . I will once more be my own master and be able to do as I wish , but I suppose that I will miss his acerbic wit ; I commented that a prophet is without honour in his own land , and bemoaned a general lack of respect , to which the response was that children are there to " take the mickey " out of their parents . I suppose that this is the modern equivalent of the slave whose job it was to whisper "Thou art mortal" to their master .
Still the bright side of this is that I get to visit Chicago on a "free" holiday and annoy him .

The E.U.s biased sense of justice .

I felt that I had to repost this article by Tapestry at The Tap blog , whilest not wishing to be an apologist for the terrible acts committed during the breakup of Yugoslavia , it was not only the Serbs who committed war crimes .

Was Mladic's Father Murdered At Srebrenica?

Given all the efforts being made by the EU to force the Serbs to hand over war criminals such as Karadzic and Mladic, the world could be forgiven for imagining that the Serbs were the only side to commit war crimes in the Balkans. What is being overlooked, however is the other side of the story. There were equally barbaric acts committed by Albanians, Croats and others, but these for some reason have been going unpunished at the Hague Tribunals, with witnesses intimidated or mysteriously dying or disappearing.

There can be no justification for the kinds of acts that were carried out at Srebrenica in the Balkan Wars by Mladic, where thousands of Moslem men and boys were rounded up by The Serbs and machine gunned to death in the football stadium. As far as the world's media were concerned, these acts were committed by Serbs as if they had come from nowhere.

But if you try to understand why a man like Mladic could find committing such acts to be justifiable to his own conscience, you could ask a little more about his background and life's experiences. It turns out that in WW2 his father fought as a partisan and, when he was captured, that he was tortured and murdered by the Ustase.

The NAZI-supporting Croatians murdered millions of Serbs, gypsies and Jews during the war, and yet unlike the Serbs who are being hunted and condemned as criminals for relatively lesser acts of imitation, the Croatians and Albanian murderers have been allowed to live and work unchallenged, many treated to this day as national heroes.

Take Franceticu (pictured) who commanded The Black Legion. There has been a memorial plinth saluting him as a hero on public display in Croatia up to the present day, and yet he was responsible for the murder of tens of thousands of Serbs. The Black Legion operated out of Srebrenica in Bosnia. Is it possible that Mladic knew that his father was murdered there, and he saw his actions in Srebrenica as justified revenge for the loss of his own father?

As people weigh the terrible acts of war committed by Caucasian and Balkan nations upon each other, and see that those from one side are always the 'baddies' it is worth remembering that were it not for the Russians and the Serbs, Western Europe would not have regained its freedom from the Nazis. While condemning modern Russian and Serbian brutality, it is worth trying to see things from a more objective viewpoint than is achievable if you take the story only as presented by the world's media. In war there is often little justice, and it is not sensible to put ascribing guilt for the past in front of achieving peace for the future.

The Serbs are asking that the world negotiates with them about the loss of Kosovo. They are being refused the privilege of being treated as the sovereign nation, and they are being portrayed as the wrongdoers by the world's media at every turn.

If Western Europe were to be thinking about its future role in the world and seeking its own security, it would not be so blatantly humiliating a key ally of Russia. Our own future might depend of achieving a more objective and less moralistic posture towards the Balkans and to Russia, or we too might be forced to relive the horrors of the past.

UPDATE - background to the hunt for Mladic HERE. His father was from Bosnia and was murdered by Croatian Nazis when he was 2 years old.

Do we see the war criminals from the other factions in the war being prosicuted , NO only the Serbs , such is E.U. justice .

Medical ethics ; a thing of the past ?

Freedom of expression or lack of it

A junior doctor has recently been suspended from work following an astonishing chain of events, amazingly this happened in the UK and not in China, I shall briefly outline the story below which demonstrates the dangers involved with vocally expressing one's anger at Comrade Brown et al's gross incompetence:

Doctors.net.uk (DNUK) is a website that doctors use for email and forum banter; Carol Black, a medico political stooge with umpteen committee positions, had recently been reelected unopposed into her position as chair of the Academy of the Medical Royal Colleges.

Given that the catastrophic failings of various recent reforms of medical training had resulted in so much suffering for so many junior doctors and their families, most doctors are not best pleased that no one has yet been held to account for these negligent reforms and that the same muppets are still manning the ship.

One doctor happened to express his dissatisfaction with events by posting some rather colourful comments concerning Carol Black's re-election. This doctor lives and works in Scotland, but strangely a key figure behind the government's reforms, a lady called Prof Elisabeth Paice, happened to be reading his words on this private DNUK forum and she reported these comments directly to one of her chums in the Highland Deanery. The doctor was then immediately suspended despite the fact that the comments were withdrawn from the forum rather rapidly.

The abuse of power that has occurred here seems to typify the way in which the filth who rule us 'govern' this country. Pulse has spoken to Prof Paice who tried to defend her position by claiming that she felt compelled to complain directly to this doctor's Dean due to the ‘excrementous and scatological’ language used. Personally I don't see why the withdrawal of the comment and a quick personal apology should not suffice.

Chickens come home to roost .

In 1990 South Ossetia declared its independance from Georgia , feeeling that they were ethnicly nearer to being Russian than Georgian , an uneasy "peace" with frequent clashes has ensued since . Today Georgia , in the middle of a Georgian led ceasefire , invaded South Ossetia ( shades of Pearl Harbour ) and tried to take contrl of the country . Georgia claims that it is only re-uniting a part of its territory , a stance backed by both the U.S. and the E.U. ; oh wait ! did not those two states say that Serbia could not regain its sovereign territory , Kosova , and did they not send troops in to defend Kosovo .
In response to this invasion , Russia sent in troops to protect its peacekeepers and its citizens , a most proper reaction in my view ; the Great Hypocrites , the Yanks and EU , back Georgia and tell Russia to withdraw its troops . This is reported on the BBC news and Sky news ; the corrupt BBC bias its reporting with 90% of the interviews being pro-Georgian and referring to the South Ossetians as rebels , such balanced reporting . Sky news on the other hand gave a balanced view and discussed the issues from both sides , and also made the comparison with Kosovo , it was not a propaganda site for the lies of the Georgian President . I never thought that I would praise Sky news , but well done .
It is reported that George Bush spoke to Vladimir Putin while they are together in China , I hope that Putin kicks the Georgian butt and the Yanks too , if they get in the way .

Whereas Religion is defined as an institution dedicated to improving social conscience and promoting individual and societal spiritual growth in a way that is harmless to others not participating in or practicing the same;

Whereas the United States of America was founded on the ideals of individual rights, including the individual right to practice one’s religion of choice, or no religion, and that there would be no compulsion of religion, nor state sanctioned religion, nor a “religious test” for participation in the body politic;

Whereas Islam includes a complete political and social structure, encompassed by its religious law, Sharia, that supersedes any civil law and that Islam mandates that no secular or democratic institutions are to be superior to Islamic law;

Whereas Islam preaches that it and it alone is the true religion and that Islam will dominate the world and supplant all other religions and democratic institutions;

Whereas Saudi Arabia, the spiritual home of Islam does not permit the practice of any other religion on its soil and even “moderate” Muslims states such as Turkey and Malaysia actively suppress other religions;

Whereas Islam includes as its basic tenet the spread of the faith by any and all means necessary, including violent conquest of non-believers, and demands of its followers that they implement violent jihad (holy war) against those un-willing to convert or submit to Islam, including by deception and subversion of existing institutions;

Whereas on 9/11/2001 19 Muslim hijackers acting in the name of Islam killed 3,000 Americans, and numerous other acts of terrorism have been directed at the American people around the world;

Whereas representatives of Islam around the world including Osama Bin Laden (architect of 9/11), the government of Iran including Mahmoud Ahmadinejad, HAMAS, Hezbollah, and other Islamic groups have declared jihad (war) on America, and regularly declare that America should cease to exist;

Whereas there is no organized Islamic opposition to violent proponents of Islam;

Therefore: Islam is not a religion, but a political ideology more akin to Fascism and totally in opposition to the ideals of freedom as described in the United States Constitution, especially the Bill of Rights.

Be it resolved that the following Amendment to the Constitution be adopted:

Article I

The social/political/ideological system known around the world as Islam is not recognized in the United States as a religion.

The practice of Islam is therefore not protected under the 1st Amendment as to freedom of religion and speech.

Article II

As representatives of Islam around the world have declared war, and committed acts of war, against the United States and its democratic allies around the world, Islam is hereby declared an enemy of the United States and its practice within the United States is now prohibited.

Article III

Immediately upon passage of this Amendment all Mosques, schools and Muslim places of worship and religious training are to be closed, converted to other uses, or destroyed. Proceeds from sales of such properties may be distributed to congregations of said places but full disclosure of all proceeds shall be made to an appropriate agency as determined by Congress. No compensation is to be offered by Federal or State agencies for losses on such properties however Federal funding is to be available for the demolishing of said structures if other disposition cannot be made.

The preaching of Islam in Mosques, Schools, and other venues is prohibited. The subject of Islam may be taught in a post high school academic environment provided that instruction include discussion of Islam’s history of violence, conquest, and its ongoing war on democratic and other non-Islamic values.

The preaching or advocating of Islamic ideals of world domination, destruction of America and democratic institutions, jihad against Judaism, Christianity and other religions, and advocating the implementation of Sharia law shall in all cases be punishable by fines, imprisonment, deportation, and death as prescribed by Congress. Violent expressions of these and other Muslim goals, or the material support of those both in the United States and around the world who seek to advance these Islamic goals shall be punishable by death.

Muslims will be denied the opportunity to immigrate to the United States.

Article IV

Nothing in this amendment shall be construed as authorizing the discrimination against, of violence upon, nor repudiation of the individual rights of those Americans professing to be Muslim. The individual right of conscience is sacrosanct and the practice of Islam within the privacy of home and self is strictly protected to the extent that such individuals do not violate the prohibitions described in Article III.

INTRODUCTION

As an Expert Reviewer for the Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change for eighteen years, that is to say, from the very beginning. I have submitted thousands of comments to all of the Reports. My comments on the Fourth IPCC Report, all 1,898 of them, are to be found at IPCC (2007) and my opinions of the IPCC are in Gray (2008b)

I am therefore very familiar with the arguments presented by the IPCC, many of which have now been copied by the Royal Society of New Zealand, and the responses to them.

I will first comment on the Introduction

to make absolutely clear what the evidence is for climate change and anthropogenic (human-induced) causes.

The climate has always changed and always will. No evidence whatsoever for a human contribution to the climate is given in their following statement.

Their Summary is as follows:

The globe is warming

This statement is a lie. The globe is currently cooling. According to the CSSP Report (Karl et al 2007), there are currently nine authorities currently involved in providing a dataset of monthly global temperature anomalies. They are

NASA’s Goddard Institute for Space Studies (GISS)
Climatic Research Unit of the University of East Anglia (HadCRUT2v)
NOAA radiosonde network , (RATPAC)

Remote Sensing Systems Lower Troposphere TLT MSU (RSS)
National Center for Environmental Protection Reanalysis (NCEP50)
European Centre for Medium Range Weather Forecasts Reanalysis (ERA40)

Eight of these authorities agree that the globe is currently cooling. Only GISS disagrees.

because of increasing greenhouse gas emissions

No evidence is presented to justify this conclusion. There are “projections” of computer models but these are not predictions, they are merely the results of assumptions made in the model. No “projected” result has ever been successfully related to an actual change in the climate.

Measurements show that greenhouse gas concentrations in the atmosphere
are well above levels seen for many thousands of years.

This statement is a lie. 90,000 measurements published in peer-reviewed journals since 1850, some by Nobel Prize-winners, have been suppressed by the IPCC because they do not agree with this statement. (Beck 2007). Stability of carbon dioxide in ice cores thousands of years old is questionable. (Jaworowski 2007). Recent measurements of carbon dioxide are confined only to exceptional circumstances over the ocean, and do not include measurements over land. (Manning et al 1994).

Further global climate changes are predicted,

This is another lie. Computer models of the climate have never been shown to be capable of prediction, and the IPCC recognises this by using the term “projections” for the output from the models. This statement refers only to greenhouse gas concentrations anyway, not to any other “global climate change”

with impacts expected to become more costly as time progresses.

“Expected” by whom?. By “experts” whose finance depends on favourable “expectations”. On what basis?. Purely on the opinions of these “experts”.

Reducing future impacts of climate change will require substantial reductions of greenhouse gas emissions.

Again, mere opinion, without any evidence that this “requirement” will work.

fostering evidence-based scientific debate

There is no “debate”. This is a one-sided statement which does not permit discussion or disagreement in public. At least I can debate it on the Internet.

We hope this statement makes a useful contribution to public understanding of climate change.

I hope that my comments will make a similar useful contribution.

THE STATEMENT

There has been an overall upward trend in global surface temperature since the beginning of the 20th Century.

Typically, from the nine global temperature records, you choose the least reliable, the surface temperature record, which suffers from numerous problems and biases, such as poor and unrepresentative sampling, poor quality control, and urban and land-change influences. The least reliable section was at the beginning of the 20th century, when presumed influences of greenhouse gases were negligible..

The surface record has been highly irregular and it has included several upwards and downward “trends”, none of which could be called “overall”. A downward “trend” was shown from 1940 to 1976, apparently uninfluenced by increased greenhouse gas emissions, It is difficult to explain why the greenhouse gases had a sudden reversal of influence for the upwards “trend” from 1976 to 1998. After 1998 the temperature has fallen, and there was a “trend” downwards from 2002 to the present day, unnoticed by this statement.

Most of the observed global warming over the past 50 years is very likely to be due to increases in greenhouse gas concentrations in the atmosphere.

“the past 50 years” has been dishonestly chosen to eliminate the most reliable observed global
temperature records, the radiosondes, (from 1958) and the MSU satellites (from 1978) for exclusive consideration. This record actually shows “global cooling” from 1958 to 1976, so it is only the bit in the middle of the record, 1976 to 1998, which showed “global warming”; considered “very likely” to have been “due to increases of greenhouse gases in the atmosphere”. It is strange, that the greenhouse gases suddenly stopped operating from 1958 to 1976 and from 1998 to 2008.

As before, the opinion that this strange behaviour was “very likely” comes entirely from “experts” with a conflict of interest.

Greenhouse gases warm the lower atmosphere by allowing sunlight to reach the Earth?s surface but trapping some of the infrared radiation emitted by the Earth. Human activities have increased the concentrations of carbon dioxide, methaneand nitrous oxide since the mid-1700s. More than half of the carbon dioxide concentration increase has occurred since 1970.

This may be true, but there is no evidence that there have been any harmful effects as a result.

Human activities have also increased concentrations of aerosols (small ?air pollution? particles) in the atmosphere. These may have partially offset the heating effect of the greenhouse gases by scattering some sunlight back to space.

This may also be true, but it merely shows that net effects can be very complicated. Since more aerosols are emitted in the Northern Hemisphere than in the Southern Hemisphere, and over land rather than sea, one might expect greater cooling in the North and over the sea. In reality, it is the South and the oceans where temperature rises have been less.

Natural factors also cause climate variations. Climate has always varied, over timescales of decades, centuries and millennia. Until recently these variations have had only natural causes
? including changes in the tilt of the Earth?s axis, the shape of theEarth?s orbit, the energy output from the sun, dust from volcanic emissions, and heat exchanges between the atmosphere and the ocean (such as El Niño). This natural variability still occurs in addition to the human influences. Thus while the overall decade-to-century temperature trend is upwards, individual years can still be warmer or cooler than previous years.

Here you display your prejudices. When the temperature goes up it is “very likely” due to human greenhouse emissions, It is only due to natural causes when it goes down, and great efforts must be made to eliminate these by averaging over the year, the decade, the century, in the hope that they can be covered up.

Further global changes are predicted. Many impacts are expected to be more costly as time progresses. Even if the concentrations of all greenhouse gases and aerosols were held constant at year 2000 levels, a further warming trend would be expected for at least several decades, due mainly to the slow response of the oceans.

Here we go again. Climate models cannot make “predictions”, but the IPCC soothsayers have no limit to what can be “expected” without any evidence.

Additional increases in greenhouse gas concentrations, and resulting changes in climate, will occur over coming decades unless concerted international action is taken to substantially reduce emissions. Impacts will vary regionally but, aggregated and discounted to the present, they are very likely to impose net annual economic costs which will increase over time as global temperatures increase.

The end is nigh! Prepare to meet thy doom!!! Unsubstantiated nonsense.

*Measurements show that:* * Atmospheric concentrations of carbon dioxide, methane and nitrous oxide have increased by 35%, 150% and 18% respectively since around 1750^1 <#1> .

So what?

Air temperature (averaged over the globe’s surface) has risen through the past 100 years. The linear warming trend from 1906 to 20052 was 0.74°C [0.56 to 0.92°C]3.

Only if you believe the unreliable record all that way back. But why does it matter?

Globally-averaged sea level rose by 17 cm [12 to 22 cm] during the 20th century.

Highly unlikely. When tide-gauges are kept level with GPS the rise disappears.

Average northern hemisphere temperatures during the second half of the 20th century were very likely warmer than during any other 50-year period in the last 500 years and likely the warmest in the past 1300 years.

A dishonest trick obtained by comparing unreliable and unrepresentative “proxy” measurements with weather station data influenced by urban heating.

For the globally-averaged surface air temperature, 2005 and 1998 were the two warmest years in the instrumental temperature record (i.e. since 1850. Twelve of the thirteen years during the period 1995-2007 are the warmest since 1850).
The poor accuracy and undoubted bias from urban heating make these comparisons worthless. For information on the undoubted influence of urban heating, see Gray (200) and Gray (2008a). For a recent statistical demonstration of socio-economic bias see McKitrick and Michaels (2007)

Mountain glaciers and snow cover have declined on average in both hemispheres.
Spring peak river flows have been occurring 1 to 2 weeks earlier in basins with important seasonal snow cover in North America and northern Eurasia (based on observations over the period 1936 – 2000), due to earlier warming-driven snow melt.Arctic sea-ice summer extent has decreased at an average rate of 7.4% [5.0% to 9.8%] per decade since 1978.

There has been a global temperature cycle which had a peak value in around 1950, a trough around 2975 and another peak in 2000. It has been particularly prominent inn the Arctic where it is reinforced by the Atlantic Decadal oscillation. The recent fall in temperature is likely to reverse these effects. Some of these changes go back to the previous ice age and some are due to changes in local vegetation or precipitation.

Observations since 1961 show the average temperature of the global ocean has increased to depths of at least 3000m, with decadal fluctuations superimposed on this long-term trend.

The observations show a periodic behaviour related to the ocean oscillations. The measurements are highly inaccurate and have been revised twice already.

The ocean has become more acidic because of uptake of carbon dioxide from the atmosphere.

Parts of the ocean emit carbon dioxide now and are thus more acidic than others. Organisms are already adapted to both extreme changes and any increase in carbon dioxide will only change the proportions. Evolution should easily handle any changes in ratio.

For New Zealand the air temperature shows substantial year to year fluctuations, but shows a clear increase over time, with a linear trend in the country-wide average of 0.9°C between 1908 and 2006. The average sea level rise over the twentieth century was 16±2 cm. The number of frost days has decreased since the 1950s at many New Zealand sites.

There was no overall change in temperature in New Zealand since 1950 and the previous figures are dubious. The sea level all over New Zealand has levelled out since GPS devices enabled accurate levelling. Doubtless it is possible to select those “many” sites that justify your prejudice.

Present global atmospheric concentrations of carbon dioxide far exceed pre-industrial values dating back at least 650,000 years.

Only if you suppress the information documented by Beck (2007) and Jaworowski (2007)

The global increases in carbon dioxide concentration since pre-industrial times are due primarily to fossil fuel use and land use change.
About 2/3rds of these anthropogenic carbon dioxide emissions since 1750 are estimated to have come from fossil fuel burning and about 1/3 from land use change. About 45% of this carbon dioxide has remained in the atmosphere.

If it is true why should I care?

The combined influence on the energy balance of the Earth-atmosphere system of all anthropogenic emissions between 1750 and 2006 is likely to be at least 5 times larger than the influence of changes in solar output over the same period.

No part of the earth ever has an “energy balance” and there is no reason to suppose that such a balance exists. The Sun has much more influence than estimated here because you ignore feedback effects such as the influence on clouds and the influence of cosmic rays. Current changes in sunspot numbers are already having more effect than you are prepares to admit.

Very energetic volcanic eruptions (such as that of Mt Pinatubo in 1991) can place small particles high in the atmosphere, blocking sunlight and leading to cooling for a few years.

You usually ignore these effects when you derive “trends”.

Increasing atmospheric temperatures lead to an overall increase of water vapour in the atmosphere. Water vapour is itself a strong greenhouse gas, so this amplifies the warming effect of the increase in anthropogenic greenhouse gases.

You usually ignore the importance of water vapour by pretending it is a “feedback” to the effects of the minor greenhouse gas, carbon dioxide. You also conceal the fact that its distribution of water vapour in the atmosphere is extremely unbalanced, with most of it over the tropics and very little over the poles. Its role in the climate is almost completely unknown at present.

The frequency of heavy precipitation events has increased over most land areas, consistent with warming and observed increases of atmospheric water vapour.

Typical vague statement. “Increased” since when? where?, with what variability? Measurements are highly inaccurate.

Projections for the 21st Century from the IPCC’s4 2007 assessment (assuming no substantial efforts to reduce greenhouse gas emissions) include:

Note that these are “projections”, NOT “predictions” They are not based on evidence, only on partisan “expert” opinion.

An increase in globally-averaged surface temperature of 1.1 to 6.4°C by 21005.
A globally-averaged sea level increase of 18 to 59 cm by 2100. However these projections do not include uncertainties in climate-carbon cycle feedbacks nor the full effects of dynamic changes in ice-sheet flow, so do not provide an upper bound for possible sea level rise.
More heat waves, fewer frosts, and more heavy rain events are very likely.
The area affected by droughts is likely to increase through the 21st Century. Increases are likely in the peak wind and rain intensity in tropical cyclones

More irresponsible ranting.

Projections for New Zealand based on these global projections suggest6:
A New Zealand-average warming7 of 0.2 to 2.0°C by 2040 and 0.7 to 5.1°C by 2090. Fewer cold temperatures and frosts, and more high temperature episodes.
A stronger west-east rainfall gradient (wetter in the west and drier in the east) in winter and spring, and an increasing risk of extreme rainfall as the century progresses.
Increasing drought risk during this century in areas which are currently drought-prone.
An increase in New Zealand-averaged sea level of the same order as the IPCC global projections.
Natural year to year variations in New Zealand’s climate will be superimposed on top of these projected anthropogenic changes.

They are getting 38 years of comfortable well-paid work before everybody tumbles to the scam in 2040.They have an excuse already ready for when it fails, and can be extended another 50 years. It is in the last sentence.

Some potential further risks are being quantified by ongoing research:
Some studies suggest substantial parts of the Greenland ice cap, and perhaps of the West Antarctic ice sheet could melt over the coming 1000 years. Global average sea level at the height of the last interglacial about 125,000 years ago (when average polar temperatures were around 3°C to 5°C warmer than now) was likely 4-6 m higher than at present.

The standby of contemporary scientific research is the could be/might be discovery, which is merely “suggested”. And “likely”.

Models indicate some slowing of the oceanic meridional overturning circulation (MOC) is very likely during the 21st Century. The MOC carries warm water into the North Atlantic where it cools, sinks and then spreads through the other ocean basins at depth.

No limit to this stuff.

As the globe warms, the oceans and biosphere may become less efficient at absorbing carbon dioxide, leading to a larger fraction of the anthropogenic emissions remaining in the atmosphere.

Maybe, maybe.

Reducing the future impact of climate change will require substantial reductions of net emissions of greenhouse gases. Major international policy changes would be required to deliver these reductions but various technologies exist to provide them:

Here it comes. Punish the people for being too prosperous.

More efficient use of energy, e.g. better designed and insulated houses, more efficient appliances and industrial processes
Renewable energy sources, e.g. hydropower, geothermal, wind, marine, and solar
Lower-carbon fossil fuels such as natural gas and the capture and storage of emissions from power plants
More efficient transport and urban systems and the use of appropriate biofuels and other renewable energy sources to power transport
Reforestation, reduced deforestation, and lower emission forms of agriculture

Green Party propaganda. There is an election coming up.
I have never understood why it is so necessary to punish the animals as well as the humans. Cows and sheep do not eat fossil fuels so they make no contribution to the “human” carbon dioxide emissions. They eat grass, and convert most of it into meat, milk and wool. A small residuum is emitted as methane which is converted back to carbon dioxide in the atmosphere and then is converted into more grass
I burn wood in a wood stove. It is entirely converted into carbon dioxide which helps grow more trees. I just recycle it. So do the animals. But I suppose they will be after me too soon.

CONCLUSION
This Climate Change Statement is veritably an orchestrated litany of lies, to borrow a phrase. As a longstanding member of the Royal Society of New Zealand I am unable to tolerate such a departure as this from the supposed objectives of fair or responsible comment on scientific matters, so I have resigned in protest.

I looked for an image to represent " Great Britain " going down the pan , however I saw this , it is perfect , the once Great Britain reduced to a sinking rowing boat by Gordon Brown . We have seen our once prosperous nation reduced to a basket case by the worst Chancellor and Prime Minister ever , Brown has managed to snatch defeat from victory in the economic war .
Our country's economy is in the severest recession / depression / satgflation in a very long while , curtsey of Prudence Brown . This is the "man" who said " there will be no return to the Tory days of boom and bust" , yes I agree this is no boom and total disaster .
With the Westminster pigs filling their trough , the public on fixed incomes and pensions are faced with actual inflation of 18% ,rising prices for everything and the threat of 60+% rises in fuel bills ; it is becoming a fact of life that " do we eat today ?"
is asked often . When the poor start to die as a result of not being able to heat their homes or feed themselves , who will be held responsible .... no one of course .
It is a sad fact that Brown is actually no better than Mugabe , the politicians live well and the poor starve ; such is Britain today .
Will no one pay for me to leave this hell hole !!!!

Harry’s Place, a UK blog dedicated to promoting the ideals of freedom and democracy, is being sued by Mohammed Sawalha, the President of the British Muslim Initiative, which has been linked to Hamas and the Islamic Brotherhood, both terrorist organizations. The blog reports that Mr. Sawalha, according to the BBC…

“master minded much of Hamas’ political and military strategy” and in London “is alleged to have directed funds, both for Hamas’ armed wing, and for spreading its missionary dawah”.

In their revelation of the impending lawsuit against them leveled by Mohammed Sawalha, they write:

Mr Sawalha claims that we have “chosen a malevolent interpretation of a meaningless word”. In fact, we did no more than translate a phrase which appeared in an Al Jazeera report of Mr Sawalha’s speech. When Al Jazeera changed that phrase from “Evil Jew” to “Jewish Lobby”, we reported that fact, along with the statement that it had been a typographical error.

Mr Sawalha has been the prime mover in a number of Hamas and Muslim Brotherhood associated projects. He is President of the British Muslim Initiative. He is the past President of the Muslim Association of Britain. He was the founder of IslamExpo, and is registered as the holder of the IslamExpo domain name. He is also a trustee of the Finsbury Park Mosque….

…Mr Sawalha says that the attribution of the phrase “Evil Jew” to him implies that he is “anti-semitic and hateful”. Notably, he does not take issue with our reporting of the revelation, made in a Panorama documentary in 2006, that he is a senior activist in the clerical fascist terrorist organisation, Hamas.

I had to think what was the most appropriate image to use to represent the injustice in Britain today , or do I mean England today ; anyway this is what I decided on . The scales of justice are unbalanced against the people of England , the Labour government is biased towards Scots who vote on purely English matters , whilst M.P.s cannot vote on Scottish matters ...some justice there . The Barnett formula gives Scots 21% more money than the average for England , a case of English money used to keep Scotty McBrown in his position as P.M. . Labour is adept at bringing in more draconian laws to restrict our freedoms and making true born citizens second class to those who come to the U.K. to sponge off the system .
Those Gestapo want to be's , the PCSOs are the latest threat to our freedom , pretending to have powers that they do not posses , threatening people going about their lawful occasion . The Police are no better , arresting folk for activities which are perfectly legal , whilst allowing those of an ethnic persuasion to break the law with impunity .
Now to get to my main point , a government can only govern with the consent of the populace , the Police can only operate with the consent of the populace , then if we ALL withdraw our consent then the legitimacy of the controlling authorities is more then a little in question . What can you do .... write to Brown and tell him that you have withdrawn yourself from his authority , write to your Chief Constable and tell him/her that do have withdrawn your consent to be policed by his/her Force . May God protect the righteous .

A Church divided .

A church divided or schism , not a pleasant occurrence to contemplate but one that will take place on Tuesday at All Souls church , Langham Place , London . Bishops and clergy , faithful to the true teachings of the Anglican faith , will meet and form a Global Anglican Fellowship within the Anglican Communion .
The sad state of affairs arises because Nu-Labours Arch-bishop of Canterbury , Dr. Rowan Williams , failed to properly address the appointment of an openly gay Bishop in the American Episcopal Church , this failure cause distress to the traditional wing of the Church .
So now the new Fellowship will have it's own bishops , ministers and parishes outside of the jurisdiction of the diocesan Bishops ; I was overjoyed when I learned that the Fellowship was to use the Book of Common Prayer as the basis of worship , a return to the time of Cranmer is most welcome by The Doc .
I wish the deliberators well on Tuesday and hope that the Holy Spirit will guide their actions and I ask God's Blessing be upon them . Amen .

Jodrell Bank threatened by small minds .

One scientific achievement in England hailed by the rest of the world is Jodrell Bank radio telescope , the worlds first and still one powerful instrument . But.... there is always a but , an important upgrade to enable its continued use is e-Merlin , a data stream device , but the Scientific and Technology Facilities Council have stopped the project and the necessary funding for it . Professor Keith Mason , STFC chair , and the small minds who sit on the Council should all resign and make way for real scientists who recognise innovation and "blue skies" thinking , while they are at it why not put some lay representatives onto the Council to represent society's
viewpoint . From some of the chairs pronouncements re: e-Merlin he does not seem to know the meaning of ethical science .
I am dammed annoyed about this matter .
